Here is Bass Harbor Light on canvas after I did the first go on the sky. Because the paint tends to need two coast to look good, I'll wait until this is dry and do it again with slightly deeper shading. This will be a thicker coat and will blend easily, darker blue into lighter, and then into yellow/coral.
You'll notice that my darks are really dark and my lights really light. This is because I want to be able to put lighter colors on the darks and have them contrast nicely. Same with the lights in reverse.
The rocks are going to need particular attention, and I'll tackle them one or two at a time.
My next task will be to block in the shadowy sides of the house and light, and start softening up the ledges.
