I must say my feelings are mixed after the season's final show of the Gallery at 11 Pleasant Street.
The season seemed so short-from May to December flew by (like that old song) and in retrospect seems like one long show punctuated by very high spikes that were the 2nd Friday Artwalk Openings. If you could see the progress of the gallery on a graph, those spikes would be following a steadily climbing bar throughout the months. Total Satisfaction!
The quality of the art shown has varied, of course. My belief is that just because you or I don't care for someone's work does not mean somebody else does not love it. This is proved every show! That being said, comments such as, "What a wonderful variety of work!", and, "This show is gorgeous!" punctuated the season. My soul swelled with all those beautiful smiles of delight as patrons walked into the gallery, faced with such beautiful diversity. Total Pride!
My goal for next season is to continue the upward climb of that graph, to improve the gallery's decor even more, and to increase marketing so that our terrific artists get as much recognition as they deserve. Happy Holidays, everyone, Janet Glatz
