The above image is a photograph. This, along with four others that are similar, are my references for the current work I'm doing. To say it is a challenge is almost an understatement. I have never painted a running river before, let alone one filled with rocks and boulders, with a section of it transparent so that one can see the riverbed beneath the surface.
This kind of painting requires the brush strokes to be directional and consistent, the colors to reflect off the water just so, and the composition to be pleasing and make sense. Needless to say, I have painted over and re-painted over several sections of this piece.
It's been two weeks since I began, but I feel I am making real progress now. (And learning along the way.)
Now that I see the light at the end of the tunnel, I can't wait to show everyone my labor of love. Best to you, Janet
